GoPro LCD bacpack… les petits soucis….

Plus la peine de présenter la fameuse GoPro HD que l’on croise partout aujourd’hui.. sur les pistes de ski, les descente de skate, à vélo, dans jumps de kite, en surf, et en wingsuit, et même dans l’espace…
La marque vient de sortir un accessoire : le bacpac qui est un écran LCD qui vient se fixer au dos de la cam.
Comme j’ai certains amis geeks kiteux, débrouillards et très généreux… J’ai eu la chance tester le bijou, relativement tôt pour le marché francais…

GoPro HD bacpac

Rien a dire sur l’accessoire qui grossit un peu la cam, mais en restant assez raisonnable. et apport un support de visée et de review, parfaitement acceptable pour sa taille.
La finition est de qualité, et l’accessoir et livré avec 4 capots de caisson ( ouvert et fermé et inversé pour le support de poigné ).
C’est certainement au niveau du poid.. que l’ensemble commence à faire lourd pour certaines fixations comme pour le surf ou la cam est soumise a rude épreuve.

En tout cas si vous optez pour ce bacpac… et qu’au premier branchement, la cam fait un bruit étrange, et qu’elle ne s’allume plus… Pas d’inquiétude.
Le problème vient d’une mauvaise mise a jour du firmware. Il convient de réessayer la mise a jour.. jusqu’à ce qu’il y ai un clignotement de la diode.

Si votre camera est bloqué… et qu’elle ne s’allume plus… quelques minutes sans batterie lui feront le plus grand bien…

Slow Mo Slides….

This is a short longboard film I recently produced. The idea behind it was to marry some slow motion longboard sliding to a ‘glitch’ track and mash it all up to the beat. I wanted the images and audio to become one. Also wanted to try some super slow shots and see how far I could push optical flow.

Time Bomb

Director’s commentary:

Timebomb ended up being quite a video to make. A few months back I sent a list of ideas off to the Loaded team to consider for future videos. Then I got a call on like a Friday from Adam saying, “Everyone’s gonna be in town; we’re filming Monday and Tuesday.” Ha, so I spent the weekend trying to figure out how we were gonna do this, build the bomb, build a paint canon for the explosion, etc. It was quite a lot of rushing around to get it all done. The paint canon ended up working really well, but the bomb had some issues the first day and kept literally exploding on us every time it was dropped. Did some late night revising and we had a solid bomb for the second day of filming.

With so many skaters, it was a lot to wrangle while shooting. Just figuring out how to give everyone screen time, show some awesome skating, and get it all done in two days was challenging. We ended up slapping GoPro’s on everyone: helmet mounts, chest mounts, and hand mounts. That helped fill some spots and also gave some nice shots of the bomb. We tried a combination of raw runs with GoPro’s running and Adam skating in the pack filming and then we also did some planned out shots where I’d run a static camera on a corner. It took some work to make it all fit together in the edit, but I think it came out pretty well.

Thoughts from Adam:

Timebomb attack… so stoked! Jon came up with this amazing idea, we all worked together as a team, and we got it done. This was one of the hardest videos to film to date, and I was stoked to be filming alongside my bud Jon and working with a talented crew of riders. Doing the follow shots down these mountain roads was scary with a side of death wish, haha. We had 4-5 riders riding inches from each other at times, barely fitting in one lane and myself working the camera and trying to get good shots of a rapidly moving object flying around at random, all while still trying to skate the road, make the turns and not die, haha. There were a couple of times where I would be filming in the other lane and Kyle would yell to me, “CAR!!!” and I would swerve back into my lane. The greatest thing about all of this is that pack riding is hard enough by itself, but we take it to a whole new level by playing catch with a heavy, oddly shaped object with slide gloves on… oh yeah. I saw some very sketchy situations at times when the riders should have fallen or gone down but didn’t. Hahaha, it is just amazing how well these guys can ride together so close and sketchy but still not fall. It was fun to see the communication develop between the riders over the two days when passing the bomb back and forth. I feel the ending of this video will go down in longboarding history. Jon did a kick-to-the-butt job with this video, and I was stoked to be a part of it, help film and challenge myself doing so. I did fall with the camera, which made me very angry, roaring like a lion for about 2 minutes thinking it was broken, but it turned out alright. Grinding sandbags does not work out well, hahaha.
